Thank you!

Uncategorized

Thank you everyone for attending our ceremony in Barnstaple last June 18th. We had a wonderful time and were graced with fantastic weather!

Thank you also for all the cards, gifts and contributions for our honeymoon. The honeymoon will not happen until 2017, but we will continue to plan and will update the honeymoon page on this site as soon as we have more details to share!

As you can see, the cards have been placed in the living area of our home in Singapore. Please do let us know if you have plans to visit Singapore, so we can meet up again.

Ammamma

Updates

Sangeeta and I are very sad to inform you that our wonderful, warm, kind and loving Ammamma passed away peacefully at 3.25am Singapore time on Tuesday 29th December 2015, due to complications from metastatic breast cancer. Sangeeta and her family were by her side.

Sadly I was not in Singapore at the time and could not secure a flight. I do, however, feel blessed to have known her and loved her as my own grandmother. I am also very grateful that she was able to not only attend, but also thoroughly enjoy, our wedding in Singapore on 14th November 2015.

Life will not be the same without her. Rest in Peace Ammamma.

Our amazing Ammamma enjoying our special day

Thank you everyone!

Updates

Now the first of our special days is over, we would like to say a big thank you for your love and support last weekend, both in the morning ceremony at the temple and at the Song of India later that day, for the register of our marriage and the evening meal.

There were so many of you who helped us prepare, in so many different ways, that it is just not possible to list you all in a short blog post. But the help everyone gave (no matter how big or small) was amazing and greatly appreciated. Without this, I am sure the day would just not have been possible.

Special mention must go to Ammamma, who has been unwell for so long and been through so much, it was just incredible to see her enjoy our day!

As you may know, we flew to Chennai on the Monday after the wedding, and had a wonderful time with our familes exploring the sights of the city and visiting Pondicherry. Seeing Ammamma’s sister (affectionately known as Ammamma number 2) was a special highlight.

Only when we returned yesterday, did we get the opportunity to open your cards, Ang Bao, and read your kind messages. The image below is a small selection of these, which are now on display at Sangee’s home. (Probably should have done this earlier, when the flowers were still fresh!)

It is now just over 6 months till our UK ceremony, in Barnstaple, so please do keep an eye on our website for updates.

Thank you everyone!!

1 week to go!

Updates

With one week to go until the temple wedding and the ROM, all of the finer details have now been organised for the big day!

You may have noticed from our Facebook post, that on Friday morning we attended an interview at the Singapore Registry of Marriage. This was just to check our documents, swear an oath to cofirm we are entitled to marry, and sign on the dotted line. Luckily, despite my foreign worker status, everything can proceed!!

After this was complete, we were had were given a voucher for a free photograph in the slightly ‘cheesy’ but nonetheless memorable ROM photo booth. As you can see below, we were slightly too close to the camera when it was taken!!

We are both very much looking forward to seeing everyone very soon, especially those of you who will be travelling great distances to be part of our special day!

3 weeks to go!

Updates

With just 3 weeks to go until our wedding ceremony in Singapore, I thought perhaps it was time to post the first news update on this site.

Hopefully all invitations have now arrived safely, and our dates have been noted in your diaries!

Our initial plan was to have both the Singapore and UK ceremony in summer 2016. The wedding in Barnstaple on 18th June was due to take place first, before returning to Singapore for a Hindu ceremony.

However, due to concerns over the health of Sangeeta’s grandmother, we decided to bring the Hindu service in Singapore forward to this November. The register of our marriage will therefore also be in Singapore. Of course, this will not detract from the ceremony in Barnstaple, which will include the exchange of rings and be a much larger family event.

We are really looking forward to both events and seeing everyone, whichever ceremony you are attending!

Our beloved Ammamma is also very excited, and is pictured holding her invitation, which was the first to be written and delivered.
